Do I need an appointment for new tyres in New Plymouth?
No. Rodney's Tyre Service is a walk-in tyre shop, so you can drop in any time during opening hours without booking. If you'd like a price first, send a quote request and we'll get back to you.
Do you offer free tyre and air pressure checks?
Yes. We check your tyres and air pressure for free. Correct pressure and healthy tread keep you safer, help your tyres last longer and can reduce fuel use.
Which tyre brands do you sell?
We specialise in Hankook tyres and also supply other major brands. Tell us your vehicle and budget in the quote form and we'll recommend options.
Can I pay with Afterpay?
Yes, Afterpay is now available in-store.
How do I find my tyre size?
Your tyre size is printed on the sidewall, for example 205/55R16. That means a 205 mm wide tyre, a sidewall height of 55% of the width, fitted to a 16 inch rim. Not sure? Give us your vehicle make, model and year and we will work it out.
When should I replace my tyres?
The legal minimum tread depth in New Zealand is 1.5 mm across the full tread width, and tyres below that fail a WOF. Many tyre professionals recommend replacing before they wear down that far, because wet-weather grip drops as the tread gets shallow. Pop in for a free check if you are unsure.

We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturday 8am to 12pm. We are closed on Sundays.
